- The Body of Death
Vampire biology is that of both myth and living legend. More
often then not vampires have seeded deception into the mass media about
their origins and ways in which they are to be dealt their final blow.
Although there are varying levels of truth to be found in all vampire
myths, it is the lack thereof that will get you killed. Many an inexperienced
vampire hunter has fallen prey to these mythos over the years. Not only
are vampires not created equally, but their true weaknesses are rather
simple in nature though still difficult to exploit.
When it comes to life and that of the living, a vampire most definitely
is both alive and living. Many myths have come from the vampire's unnatural
discolorment and ability to take copious amounts of inhuman punishment.
This is a result of their genetic mutation through "biting" a living
creature. The vampires carry a carefully concocted virus in their saliva
by which they are able to eventually give birth to more vampires. This
is done when one vampire bites another living creature eventually running
saliva along its fangs into the creature's blood stream.
In doing so the vampire has infected the creature with a dormant genetic
virus. This genetic virus works its way through the blood stream eventually
coursing through all parts of the body. In doing so the virus will be
ready and waiting to change the creature's body. Being bitten however
does not mean you will physically change or that you are able to change
others. The virus is considered a non-active primer to prep a living
creature for transformation. To physically begin the altering of ones
body you must be imbued with the other key ingredient in making a vampire.
The dark arts.
When the Dark One created vampires he realized that a world full of
evolved humans would achieve nothing for his want of power. He needed
to be able to create dark warriors to rule over mankind. If mankind
were to ever gain this power for themselves, they would then break free
of the superior power controlling them as they would be equal once again.
This lead to the creation of the genetic altering virus that remains
dormant until being triggered.
When a human takes the downward spiral of losing their humanity and
becoming a vampire they may eventually be taught of their dark past.
This includes training in black magic and the ability to make more vampires
when conjourering their library of ritual knowledge. Depending on the
vampire and their experience with the dark arts they may create more
vampires of varying degrees.
When it comes to the Vampire Nation a usual hierarchy is observed when
creating new vampires. Once a vampire has imbedded their saliva into
a living creature they may then work at igniting the virus into a full
blown disease within the stricken being. Pending the vampires strength
they will create a living vampire of near equal power. Once the new
vampire has come into their own concerning learned power, they too may
carry on their masters tradition of making more vampires.
In the end, vampires are creatures of both dark magic and twisted genetic
manipulation. The vampire is restructured in such a way that they must
now continually feed on that which they seek to control. By doing so
they are able to maintain their above average abilities and longevity.
This creates a special relationship concerning the vampire and its prey.
A vampire depends upon its prey for life and power. Thus it must maintain
a unique balance of feeding and strangely enough, living with its prey
in a perverse way.
Ravage
Vampires were produced by demonic ritual and genetic manipulation
that the Dark One was able to perfect over centuries of work through
his possessed human shell. Being as such, vampires most often live on
the lifeblood of humans. The vampire is created in such a way that it
craves human blood on a primal level like that of a human craving companionship.
Some vampires have found touching their human prey distasteful and have
developed powers in which they may drain a victim's energy or life force.
Although this process does not relinquish a greater yield of sustainment
over fang and vein, it suits the standoffish aristocracy of select vampires
who think they are above all.
Vampires do not feed very often unless they are in a period of heavy
manifestation concerning their powers or physical being. The more active
a vampire becomes, the more often it needs to feed. Generally vampires
do not make a public spectacle of their feeding but rather lure victims
by social event or kidnapping into safe quarters where they may feast
unabated. Human blood is most tantalizing to the vampires both in taste
and nourishment. Although blood from animals and the like may sustain
a vampire's life, the ritual with which they were imbued does not make
full use of a lesser creature's blood.
Eternis
A vampire's age, power and natural ability are most often related to
the ritual used to transform the vampire from their human self. The
more dedicated the ritual, the more experienced the performer, the more
powerful the vampire. Only Chosen Vampires or those that are Blooded
may benefit from unnatural longevity ranging from centuries to millennia.
Other humans that are turned simply serve as tainted pawns in the Vampire
Nation's ever engaging war.
Once a human is transformed into a vampire that is hardly the end of
their evolution. As they continue to gain rank in the Vampire Nation
they will be bitten and imbued by more powerful vampires. As they are
continually transformed they will reach far above their original strength.
Eventually they may be ultimately gifted with creating a house of vampires
to rule over themselves.
