Exordium
Crux - Eye of the Hurricane
Blood Hounds is about a small group of transmutable humans,
vampires and the story of their fight against the darkness that grips
the world. It is through their story that you are introduced to the
world in which they dwell and the game in which you will play.
When it boils down to it, Blood Hounds is nothing more than a simple
modern day vampire hunting game. Blood Hounds is about vampires, their
servants and those who hunt them. However, within that simple definition
the utmost effort has been made to explore as many vampires, sub vampires,
hunters and super natural beings as possible. So although the scope
is limited, the range within is not. This leads to a uniform consistency
within a modern day setting employing a wide variety of characters.
A bit simplistic in my opinion, but necessary and believable as well.
Mass Purlieu - Haunting Hell's Grounds
The world of Blood Hounds is one of shadow warfare. The world for the
most part is oblivious to the forces of darkness working against them.
Mankind walks about during the day feeding their own appetite and in
kind, their own destruction. The Dark One's Children, vampires, have
taken this world for their control. From powerful banking and business,
technological research, global news agencies, to seeding their will
in ruling governments. The vampires have their hands in and can manipulate
almost any facet of public interest around the globe.
In turn, a select few who have become aware of this consuming evil have
decided to take up arms and fight. They are known as hunters, vampire
hunters. The hunting of vampires and their servants is a most dangerous
undertaking. From resources, numbers, technology, experience and more
the vampires have many odds stacked in their favor. By sheer force of
will and careful planning the vampire hunters have been able to mount
attacks against one of humanity's most dangerous foes.
The modern world is a most dangerous place for the vampire's enemies.
With the advent of the computer age, technology has made tracking and
manipulating mankind infinitely easier. A massive, nearly endless network
of global communication has led to a world of seeding disinformation.
Life, food, love, entertainment, all on demand. All at our whim. Yet
the very thing we so easily access is how we in turn are so easily controlled.
When you get something for nearly nothing what have you truly gained?
What is so easily obtained is even more easily disregarded, eventually
being discarded. So it has come to pass man has very little regard for
his life as well as those around him. In being so distant, controlled,
we have lost the very life we have strived to obtain.
For the vampires, their time of absolute rule is coming. Their capitol
of Babylon has been broken, a millennia later rebuilt. Through their
Dark Master, The Dark One, they have come to understand the want of
man. Man is not to be ruled by force. Man will rule himself. It is by
mans own devices that he will be conquered. It is through this deceit
the vampires have placated man. Carefully orchestrated constant chaos
envelops our time. We live in the melodramatic scheming of a constant
darkness. Are we marionettes in demon's machinations?
Mankind has been beset on all fronts with a self indulgent poison. Instead
of making our own choices, we are fed constant changing events which
cleverly dictate our circumstances. Our circumstances now dictate our
purpose. Our purpose is now that of a self ruled slave. By self rule
we are free. Free to forget that we are slaves. Yet we know inside that
something is wrong. We lash out. We cry out. Anyone and everyone is
to blame. The very few that have been face to face with the darkness
consuming us have come to a simple realization. Man is walking the razors
edge to moral and social extinction. A soulless automaton.
Where once vampires worked with their fangs, becoming that of mythical
legend, they now work with our vanity that begat our constant fall.
We yearn for everything with no end in sight. Our hunger for artificial
well being has fed our worst enemy. Our hunger has placed mankind's
enemy in the highest seats of power. Our hunger has turned us into slaves.
How do you fight that which the entire world so willingly feeds? How
do you cast off that which the world wants you to be?
You go to war.
When one goes to war against the Vampire Nation they must develop an
extraordinary mindset. One that disowns the world's false offerings.
A mindset that by the world's standards, borders insanity. Who would
be willing to risk all? And for what? No one believes you. You have
no one to turn to. No flag to rally under. No infrastructure to fall
back on. But once you have seen the truth hidden by shadows, covered
by lies, you can never go back. Not after what you have seen. Not after
what you have felt. You must soldier on.
Death, torture, losing everything you are and have come to know. Such
trivial trappings pale in comparison to defeat. When one is defeated,
when one is broken, you have lost all but still live. And there is nothing
worse then dying on the inside while remaining intact on the outside.
A husk without anima. You must soldier on. Bleed those dry which would
make you slaves by your own hand.
Ignite war under the heavens.
