Why
do you have multiple shops online?
Okay, okay, okay, simple. (Sort of)
I sell everything myself and barely have room for thousands of miniatures,
terrain etc let alone hundreds of books, cd's and collectible products
like shirts, posters, calendars and thongs. (Fag)
Store
Number one:
I sell miniatures, tokens, templates, terrain myself. I have direct
control over the main product and can bring you the best possible
price and quality control concerning the main focus of my business.
Store Number Two: RKE LuLu Store
I sell all my game books, calendars, terrain cd's, PDF's etc from LuLu.com.
Now why do I sell game related material to you from a second store,
thus having you go to a second place and deal with a second shipping
order on occasion?
Cake, I can bring you more variety than even the biggest companies.
From my RKE LuLu store I can bring you full color, black and white,
perfect bound books (ie normal binding), wire bound books (that stay
flat when you play), and hard back deluxe books (the mac daddy of quality),
cd's with printable content, direct pdf sales.
And on top of that, LuLu has contracted printing facilities world wide.
That means for you blokes overseas in the UK and europe, direct printing
and shipping for all LuLu Products. No international charges. Now tell
me that's not righteous?
NOTE!
Four
things to remember when ordering from Lulu:
1.
Once you place an order with Lulu it is final. They do not allow you
to change your order or cancel your order. Because they print on demand
your order is immediately sent to the printers and cannot be cancled
or removed.
2.
Lulu prints on demand. This means your books have not been made yet
sitting in a warehouse. So after you order it can take up to one full
week to print, then they will ship it. You will be emailed when your
product has shipped.
I've had an order of 4 books and 1 calendar take a week and a day to
ship. It comes down to when you order and how much you order. Seasons
like Christmas will take longer of course both for printing and shipping.
3. Lulu will send you an email once
a product has shipped. If they have not sent you an email you are checking
the wrong email or it simply hasn't shipped.
4.
Media mail i.e. Lulu's cheapest shipping rate is decently fast unless
around holidays such as Christmas.
Store
Number Three:
All non important tiddly piddly side collectibles such as shirts,
posters and the like are at my www.zazzle.com Store because they have
great quality at a good price. This store doesn't even count unless
you want to adorn your nerdy gaming body with various swag which my
nerdy self often does. This store is more for my fragile ego than anyone
else.
So: All printed gaming material and the like is at my LuLu Shop. Everything
else is at my RKE Web Store.
Q&A
Q. In the future will I continually have to make purchases from two
stores?
A. Yes.
Q.
So everytime you come out with something substantial I have to receive
packaging from two different places?
A. No. Initially you buy Pilgrim Cell, SPITE (if your into
that) and a World Book for your game of choice. 99% of all future releases
for that game will be in cheap or free, direct download PDF's from LuLu.
That means all future purchases for that game involve hopping onto LuLu,
snagging some cheap or free downloadable PDF's, then hopping onto my
RKE Web Store and picking up some minis. That's it.
So after one initial purchase with shipping for books almost everything
else for an entire game will be downloadable content or from my RKE
Web Store for minis etc.
Q.
Why sell/giveaway PDF's instead of collecting the content and printing
it in a book like the rest of your stuff?
A. It's all part of my effort to bring the customer timely,
cheap and true variety for their gaming material.
1. Most of my game worlds will
be rather large in size. This means that to collect anything I make
with regularity it would cost the consumer quite a bit of money. The
PDF's are cheaper/free because you can buy exactly what you want. No
other additional content or units tacked on.
2.
Instead of releasing one or two books a year, I can release unit groups,
scenario packs and paper terrain in month to month stream. Same amount
of content overall but delivered to you on a much more frequent basis.
So instead of going for lengthy dry spells without solid content it
will be delivered on a regular basis.
3.
Usually in large game worlds there are a ton of books to buy. You would
really like to read through them, explore other units for allied potential
and get a better feel overall for the entire game. This of course would
cost a pretty penny. With PDF downloads it costs less than half as much
then if I were to make full blown books for everything. That's not even
considering the cost of color books. Gak!
So:
Cheaper and in many cases free.
Delivered more often.
Direct content offers more flexibility in selection.
Gamer has direct access to 90% of written content for free. You know
the world, its history, units etc that much better.
Personally
I'm running a one man business.
I don't want employees all over, I dont want to have to rent a warehouse,
cut monthly checks, manage employees making sure the job is getting
done, or worse, hiring a manager to manage MY business. (Like a real
business) NO. I want this as K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple stupid) as can
be. I have carefully assessed what having a lot more stock in my humble
abode will take in space, time and ordering coupled with shipping multiplied
by growth for a constant stream of products. No can do.
Muses
Then again if this takes off and keeps growing then the shit will hit
the fan anyway. (Most likely) In which case I will be climbing
a tower with a rifle near you. (Possibly) But for now I will
offset my user load in order to focus on matters of perpetual importance
like creativity and content. (Definately) If I have to bite the
bullet in the end and stock a small rented space of non-immense proportions
for a equal trade of US earth credits to ship you demented products
of ill conceived death run by meat sheeple then so be it. (No really)
But for now....
Do
It
I have two stores you need to buy from. Two. Dos. No biggie. I know
we as Americans like our huge ass all in one super stores (Well, I actually
hate them) and I know especially online you like getting product from
one place so you don't have to worry about tracking and receiving two
shipments making sure they both get there and also paying for inflated
shipping. I am the same way. (Assholes UNITE!)
But...
Bend over. Do
the deed, get your game on and have some fun. You know I got some crazy
crap up in this hizouse. So reach in your pants and slowly pull out
your... (pervert) wallet and come enjoy my games at exceptional
prices that will only get better with time.
In
the End
Was that so hard? And if your life mate gives you any crap wether it
be mr. hand, girfriend, wife, lama (midwest US replace lama with cow
or bovine) , or same sex fruit basket, just tell them you are practicing
combating the forces of evil with tactical tabletop doctrine combined
with copius amounts of soda and chips. After all, do you want evil to
kick in the door and get dirt on your carpets? I don't think so! Case
closed! Closed!
