ONE
What?
This is the evolution of The Red Knight Entertainment Logo.
Although the logo went through dozens of variations and overhauls
I only list notable edits that stand out and intended to use.
A short history: Red Knight
Entertainment came about when me and a friend were talking late
one night the summer after I graduated highschool. We were engaging
in a conversation about a video game we liked and what we would
do to make it better etc. We got on such a kick that our inflated
egos entertained the idea we could make video games ourselves.
Well
shit, you need a company name to make games. So after some quick
pondering and recognizing our likes for fantasy I tossed the name
Red Knight out there and decided my company would be Red Knight
Entertainment. I figured the black knight had been done to death
and the white knight was just not hitting me visually. So the
Red Knight it was. My friends production company would be Hobo
Soft featuring a bum holding a switch blade.
Of
course we ended up just playing games and not making them and
Red Knight Entertainment was a fanciful dream.
It
was during my short time at college where I first created the
RKE Logo. In a computer design course we got to make our own font,
mock up ads and finally a company logo. That was my favourite
as the logo could be made for anything we wanted.
Of
course leaning to fantasy immediately I decided to make the RKE
Logo. I actually designed the logo directly in Illustrator 6 without
any sketches or art to go by. This is probably why the 1st figure
is so poorly done in regards to the knight on the horse.
I
recieved a A for my logo but for some reason never got my original
print back. I probably got an A for effort as my teacher probably
took pitty on my gimp knight melting into the horses back. After
that course wrapped up I considered taking more college courses
but I really hated school so said screw it after half a year of
night time courses.

Unlike
the sihlouette above the project doesn't look as bad.

TWO
The
revision of the logo was done the day after I got graded on my
project. I set about fixing the knight, revising the logo all
round.
I
made adjustments to the knights size on the horse, placing him
sitting properly, I decked out the base of the logo making it
more war like with dangerous spikes around, then the knight was
spiked up a bit to make him more menacing.
The
Red Knights sword was then played with in a seperate Illustrator
file so i could focus on nothing but making a sword with all the
little curves I wanted.
As
for the horse, he was rounded out a bit in the hind quarters,
shortened overall in length a bit, genitalia was added to the
horse, thus providing the gender of the horse. Knocked the moon
out as the placement didnt seem quite right.
Sucks,
I would have rather turned in this logo instead of the 1st one.
But thats what I get for being lazy with the 1st logo.

THREE
The
3rd revision added a bit to his armor etc. His helm was redone,
less traditional knight, more killer knight. Then the knights
body was worked on in the chest area providing a more armoured
sharper knights chest.
Also
the horse was extensively armoured, as he needed crushing power
in a fight. The most noticeable modification was of course the
knights sword which I was so happy with I thought it wouldnt change.
It
was interesting, in that after doing the third revision which
was decently substantial I began to think that someday I would
make something of this silly company I had created. I started
writing down game notes for things I wanted to create.

FOUR
4th
incarnation. The horse was further armoured, spikes on knees,
sharper armour all round on hind quarters and front and even leg
armour thrown into the fray. A more defined saddle was seated
upon the horse, and the knights helmet was detailed into a crouching
wind swept dragon.
One
of the more visible features of this revision is the logos base,
this timed revised with broken weapons, and the still attached
hand to its once proud owners sword. The sword is actually the
Red Knight's Sword from my 1st logo.

FIVE
Almost
there! Basically I was pretty happy with the logo by now and this
was the detail phase.
I
started by going over the entire shape of the logo adding details
as I passed. The horses hooves were corrected, fine detail, hair
and spikes strewn about. The saddle was formed a bit more, the
head horn was edited to represent more a amour horn instead of
a natural horn.
The
knight was given a extensive thrice over, sharpening his muscles,
rounding out the shoulder pads, adding slightly more character
to the helmet on the top and face, and fully decking out his gauntlet.
The
sword was rehauled extensively providing a thicker base above
the guard and some slight reworked details and a pommel blade.
In
a final pass the logos base was put on steroids enlarging the
axe and making it look meaner, adding arrow shafts stuck about
with one so carefully hanging broken. Grass blades twisting all
which ways under the furious war torn winds and the final return
of the moon which gives us this oh so perfect silouhette.
I
considered the moon heavily for a bit and was about 50/50 on it
when I decided that it would be cool to tribute the original and
keep it in.

SIX
Still
somethin a bit off, specially the moon, i added some leaves spread
throughout, moved the moon back up as it seemed better centered
and balanced the knights arm going back, redid the knights sword
a bit, made the horse physically bigger and the base a bit also,
made the red knights boot a little bigger and that was a wrap.
Everything
all round was slightly edited and made slightly more detailed.
Kinda hard to see here but on the bigger versions it really makes
a difference.
This
ends the 1st evolutionary phase of the Red Knight as his story
goes. Basically, some time after his creation, he comes to a important
fight and a major one at that in his quest. during the fight his
horse dies and he realizes several weakneses of which he must
rid himself after the fight. This leads to him getting a major
upgrade. next--->

LUCKY
NUMBER SEVEN
This
is the knight on his new steed. As you can visibly see he no longer
rides what is generally thought of as a horse. After the fight
in which his horse died he released the serious need for a war
upgrade. going back to his represenitive in the council, he demanded
changes and got them in spades.
New
to this logo revisions. The sword has once again been redone from
top to bottom. still the same feel overall but trust me, if you
see the old and new next to eachother in large scale the differences
are everywhere not to mention the sword is sheathed in this one
as it is really the last weapon generally to be used.
The
"Were-Horses" armor is largely the same with a few improvements
and alterations to fit the new frame. The tail of the "horse"
is very different now, circled in rather then flaring out. Also
you can see the horses front legs are no longer quite horsy. While
the legs blend in with the rest of the horses body the new front
legs might be thought of as a griffons front legs minus the mass
of feathers and bird scales and are again heavily armored on the
fronts.
Other
minor revisions include a tattered cloak on the knight, his left
shoulder pad re-done, saddle cloth hanging down from the horse,
more grass on the base, a series of the Red Knights weapons which
include (visible) throwing daggers, lance, sword (sheathed) and
axe. and of course a fully re-done horse from the ground up. Then
in the back the moon was slightly redone to make it almost full
circ then spiralled graphics were added to the inside of the moon
to up its overall detail.
The
spear/lance completed the logo adding some momentum. At first
I had the spear set more forward which was fine in silhouette
pictures but for the logo itself I had to center the spear otherwise
the logo was not balanced left to right.
This
is the standing RKE official company logo. Other red knight pictures
i do will evolve the knight before I draw him in the fantasy world
in which he dwells.

ONE
FOR THE ROAD
As
you can see above the knight is under work again with several
ideas being run through. Also he hath no horsie anymore. All part
of the massive story cinching together in late night dreams. Tons
of alternate silhouettes exist that I use to make desktops
with.
Am
I done? Hell no. When I actually draw the Red
Knight I'm sure he will come out slightly different then he is
now and then I will remake his silhouette to truly represent his
final fully drawn out detail. But for now this is as close as
its going to get. In the meantime I have to draw up all the rest
of the knights of the sect with the red knight being last. sigh..........
someday........... Probably once my fantasy world Red Reign gets
underway to a decent degree then the knights will come rolling
out. But thats in the faaaaar off future.
